              Organic Compound Liquid Fertilizer

              Test Report on Rose Cultivation

            A.Test Background and Objective

              - The purpose of the test was to prove, under the same cultivation conditions, the application effect of NutriGrow product is better than that of regular chemical fertilizer;   flower quality  would be improved, flower yield increased and quantity of fertilizer usage  reduced.

              - This test was carried out at the cultivation base of Pu Lin Floriculture Limited Company, Dou Nan Town, Cheng Gong County, Kunming City, Yunnan Province.

            B.Experiment Materials and Method

              1、Materials

                - NutriGrow Humic Acid & Carbon Based Organic Compound Liquid Fertilizer.

                  Applied  2 different formulations of NPK: 8 – 8 – 12 and 12 – 8 – 8,  with 90% efficiency within the very season.

                - Regular Chemical Fertilizer (Granulated)

Compound Fertilizer NPK: 17 – 17 – 17, 30% efficiency rate in the very season; Urea consisted of 46.3% nitrogen, 45% - 50% efficiency rate in the very season; and some quantity of potassium nitrate and mono-potassium phosphate.

                - ose Variety: “Black Magic”, vulgarly called “Black Rose”.

              2、Treatment 1:
Seedling planted on Feb 18, 2008, started to apply fertilizer at the beginning of April. Total test plot area: 40 m2 , plant spacing 10 cm, row spacing 40 cm, ridge width 100 cm, ridge height 60 cm, and ridge spacing 100 cm. Initially 150 ml (equivalent to 37.5 Kg/Ha per application), of high nitrogen formulation NutriGrow fertilizer diluted to 200 times were applied into soil on the test plot. Fertilizer application interval: 7 days. Before layering,
(layering on May 05), high nitrogen formulation of NutriGrow fertilizer was used for topdressing. Also, NutriGrow fertilizer, diluted to 500 times, was sprayed 3 times on leaves surfaces before layering. After layering, high potassium formulation NutriGrow fertilizer was used, the application method, interval of application and quantity applied were the same as that of the earlier stage.
              3、
                Treatment 2:

Seedling planted on Feb 18, 2008, started to apply fertilizer at the beginning of April. Total test plot area: 40 m2 , plant spacing 10 cm, row spacing 40 cm, ridge width 100 cm, ridge height 60 cm, and ridge spacing 100 cm. During the entire rose growth period, application of “Compound Fertilizer + Urea”, ratio: 1:1, was used in the earlier stage, before layering. Fertilizing Interval: 7 days. After layering, some potassium nitrate and mono-potassium phosphate were added. Total quantity of fertilizer applied: 70 Kg/Ha per application. The ratio of compound fertilizer: urea: potassium nitrate: mono-potassium phosphate = 3 : 3 : 2.5 : 2. The application method was by drip irrigation.

            C.Cultivation Conditions

              1、Status of Soil Nutrient Content

                - Basal fertilizers were Farmyard manure, cow dung 126 cube/Ha + humus soil 60 cube/Ha.

                - Status of water resource at test plot: as the watering method was by drip irrigation, once drip holes blocked at a certain location, lack of water would occur and thereby generally caused uneven growth.

                - Cultivation mode: cultivation under green-house like shed.

2、Local Regular Fertilizer Application Method: by drip irrigation.

3、NutriGrow Humic Acid & Carbon Based Organic Compound Liquid  Fertilizer Application Method: by sprinkle ( root vicinity trenching).

With reference to the Table above, under the same rose seedling conditions, the amount of effect of Treatment 1, using NutriGrow Product, was significantly better than the Treatment 2, using regular chemical fertilizer. The main manifestation was on the faster growth rate. Within a fertilizer application period, by comparison of Treatment 1 and 2, the difference of average plant height was 2 – 3 cm and the stem diameter was 0.5 – 1.0 mm. It was obvious, under the same conditions of cultivation; NutriGrow Product showed a better performance. Meanwhile, it demonstrated that NutriGrow fertilizer efficiency in the very season was very high, with only 54% of quantity used by the regular  chemical fertilizer, NutriGrow product not only ensured normal plant growth, but also, within a short period of time, rose biological growth quantity exceeded that of applied with regular  chemical fertilizer, indicating the superior performance of NutriGrow products.

With reference to the Table above, after the application of NutriGrow Product, as compared to the application of regular chemical fertilizer, the quality of rose petal improved significantly, average stem diameter improved by 0.2 cm, average plant height improved by 5 cm and rose bud average diameter fatter and bigger by about 0.5 cm.
            E.RConclusion:

              - After the application of NutriGrow humic acid & carbon based compound liquid fertilizer, the biological yield and quality of rose flower improved substantially.

              - NutriGrow fertilizer is of high concentration and high efficiency fertilizer and was first time tested on rose, the fertilizer formulation, quantity and application method might not be in good control and accurate.  Hence there was a certain limitation and question of the acuracy on the test results. Also, due to the soft and loose soil of the test plot, substantial amount of fertilizer might seep deep into the soil and affected the test results to a certain extent.

              - Economic benefits certainly being enhanced, but in order to gather more accurate data, further tests are needed.

              - For foliage spray, it was most appropriate to dilute NutriGrow fertilizer to 500 times, and there was no residue on leaves and no ”burning leaf” phenomenon as well.
